Winter Academy - 2018

PROGRAMME INFORMATION

Welcome to the Winter Training Programme. Please read ALL of the notes on this page as they are essential to ensure the system works smoothly.

Registrations are not open yet; players should expect an email invitation to their specific sessions.

Please note that the coaches may use video equipment to show players what they are doing correctly and where adjustments are needed. If you DO NOT want your child to be videoed, then you must inform us by adding a note on the last page of the Winter Academy registration form.

Squads available - Target of 20 players per squad. Two professional coaches will be provided for all sessions.  In addition to this, we will invite our Tournament Coaches to the sessions as well.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ENTRY IS ON INVITATION BASIS. ONCE REGISTRATIONS OPEN  It is unlikely that additional squads will be added due to the shortage of Indoor Training space at the Massey Indoor Facilities.

ACADEMY DETAILS

The Winter Academy is a ten-week program that starts on Sunday the 22nd of July.  

The cost to attend the academy is $195, and it will include all ten sessions.  There will be no option to pick a specific date to attend.  Players will attend the Academy according to their age- and gender-groups, according to the ACA District Tournament guidelines.

We are very excited to have secured the services of Cameron Fletcher and Amita Weerakoon as our academy head coaches.  Cameron played for New Zealand u19, he is an ex-Northern District rep, an ex-East Coast Bays Premier player and coach, and is currently contracted to the Canterbury Kings.  

Amita is a very established cricket and business professional that has the following repertoire:

  • Level 2 /HP Certified coach - NZ Cricket
  • Business Mentor - NZ Cricket Players’ Association
  • Director of Cricket - Takapuna DCC
  • Director of Cricket/Head coach/1st XI coach 2014-2016 – Rosmini College
  • North Harbour Coach/Selector since 2010
  • Premier Cricketer with Grafton - 1980's-1990's
  • Sri Lankan Schools U19 rep 
  • Senior Business Manager - Whitcoulls Group 1993 - 2015 

The ten-week program will start on Sunday 22nd of July with a fitness evaluation for all players.  All players will receive a report at the end of the academy with their progress.

Our other sessions would comprise of:

  • Focus on batting
  • Focus on fast bowling
  • Focus on spin bowling and how to play spin bowlers
  • Fielding drills
  • Gameday preparation
